About

Hi, my name is Behrouz Zand.  I am a gynecologic oncologist, a surgeon, a husband, and a dad.  I am board certified in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.  I am a physician at the University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center. But this is my own personal blog so all views are my own and not of my employer.

My blog is mostly about well-being and getting better in all aspects of life–as a person, a dad, a husband, a citizen of a community, and as a doctor. Occasionally, I also write articles as a contributing author for the Houston Chronicle’s Gray Matters.

The beauty of medicine to me as a profession has always been that it is a hybrid of the arts and sciences.  So I’ll share some interesting ideas from a broad area of knowledge. So it won’t be just all about medicine, science, and technology. I’ll write about some of the big ideas from the humanities and social sciences—such as philosophy, psychology, sociology, literature, and economics.  Steve Jobs from Apple said it best that the greatest ideas emerge from the intersection of technology and the humanities. I couldn’t agree more.
